What goes on?

Laura makes a reply to my last post that, when I come to respond, is no longer there. I wonder if she has, for some inexplicable - to me, then - reason, deleted it.

Now I get a notification that 10021's response - which has already shown up, and who is clearly on my friends' list - needs my approval.

I'd bitch to the lj support people, but I have no doubt that many already have.

well, you haven't been posting too much lately, but LJ has been screwed up since around Thanksgiving. Even now, we're still getting comments from then.

BTW,when I make this comment, I see that it is set to screen all your comments, or so it says.

Huh.

Thanks for this. I'll check my settings, though I doubt that lj's technology has somehow changed them - this time, though, I did have to unscreen yours.

Laura's missing post, meanwhile, remains a mystery - unless she did delete it, but it was pretty inocuous, so I doubt it.

At least I was notified that you commented. :)

That happens to me often enough when posting in other people's LJs. The message is posted, then disappears almost immediately. Sometimes it reappears all by itself, others not, but since I often post terrible things to people, for those cases I just assume the girls have deleted my comments before their boyfriends see them.

If you want a lot of your comments to get deleted, every time any of your friends post boring pictures of themselves at weddings, parties and picnics, make a habit of ranking all their friends by hotness.

Fool!

It's not my comments I'm concerned about, it's Laura's. Get with the program, man ...

Speaking of hotness, or lack thereof, I hear you pussied out of making it to Darkrave on the weekend.

Why didn't you call me instead?

Well, you were meant to deduce that if it can happen to my comments or your comments, it can also happen to Laura's.

But you're right, something weird is going on - a minute ago LJ told me there were no comments to your post, even after I already knew there were four. But a few seconds later they all came back.

I wussed out of the Darkrave because my electrical tape wouldn't stay on.

Ahh. But I inferred you meant that Laura might start inexplicably deleting her own. My bad.

So something strange is going on. They've just moved their data centre from one city to another. You've worked in the IT field, so I have no doubt you understand that things always go wrong when that sort of change is made.

Incidentally, will you be in town over Christmas? Assuming I can borrow a credit card, Laura and I will be heading north - the cats would live to see you once or twice during that time.

This post was all for naught, as I did- infact - delete my post. LJ is off the hook this one time but at least a semi-decent discussion came out of it.

Steve- I'll tape you next time - try using duct tape as apposed to electrical tape. :)

I'm pretty sure I don't want you duct-taping anything of mine to my anything.

I don't know man, the BDSM scene bores me. Where is the sex-mindfuck scene? I need to know where the scene is where girls want to be blind-folded and handcuffed to stuff, but just when they are anticipating sex, now instead they have to listen to me change my mind and just sit there copying their CDs or reading aloud their e-mails from their mom. Where's the scene where girls have to lie there naked and powerless while I delete their AIM buddies or Blackberry contacts?

There's a possibility, what are your dates? I do have plans to go eastwards - but God knows that the usual torrential shitrain could come flinging down upon me at any moment, and two days before everything is supposed to happen, all hell breaks loose, like it always does, and suddenly the sky is just flak and black smoke and a burning zeppelin on the horizon.

I'm in town over Christmas, and I'm a cat person. I do this not atrusitically, of course, but with the understanding that I AM a cat person who travels. A lot. And those little bastards need feeding.

I was hoping to suss you out as a potential cat-sitter tonight, but it seems you are still lugging furniture up and down stairs.

Maybe some time this coming week?

Well holy moly! Malc - "Malcolm"?!?

Clearly there is tale behind that - and maybe an explanation as to why my occasional attempts to google you came up with only very old leads.

Real letter - er, email - to follow.

(Tis the season for long-lost friends to come out of the network, or so it seems. Anyone else out there?)

LJ has been doing these kinds of things to me too. Someone will reply to my comment and I'll get the email 2 weeks later. Or not at all. It's acting pretty weird.

Same thing has been happening to me as is happening to Sean. There are some technological hiccups right now, it seems, around LiveJournal.

It appears you do have your comments set to "screen" though. *nod*

Just so you know, your comment is here and I didn't have to unscreen it. The technology is fucking with our heads, man ...
