I feel like I'm 14 again, thrilled that The Empire Strikes Back is every bit as much fun as I remembered Star Wars to have been.

With Steven Moffat's fourth at-bat in his run as show-runner for Doctor Who, I can finally say that my inner child is happy.

Comment here, or there; or don't comment at all. I'm flyin' baby! I'm flyin'.

Preserving a part of our babiness is an admirable achievement for anyone, so kudos! ^__^

Strange thing ...

... to accept kudos for, but what the hell. It is fun to take pleasure in childish things sometimes.

Glad to hear the episode was awesome

4th at-bat is Time of the Angels ? I haven't watched it yet (I haven't watched any of them except the 1st ep with the silly blue ... snake), but I am pleased you like it.

Another LJ-friend posted what appeared to be a lengthy misogynist rant about OMG TEH STRONG FEMALE CHARACTERS REDUCE TEH DOCTOR TO NOTHIN (his complaint was that anime manages to get this balance right).

Seeing a positive review (even without looking at the details - most of his rant didn't really spoil me for anything other than the return of a specific character from 4th season that I rather HOPED we would see again) causes me to go with my initial inclination - which is to assume he is completely off his rocker, even if I withold commentary/mockery until I have actually watched it.

He also had less than complementary things to say about the power-rangers/daleks cross-over, but since he included screencaps I had to agree that the day-glo daleks looked ridiculous.

Yeah, I keep seeing that sentiment in the Who community I linked to. It baffles me, but then, misogyny in general kind of baffles me. But artistically, drama is almost always more interesting when a protagonist has a strong foil rather than a weak one. And, er, "Specific Character" is definitely tough as nails. And Amy is starting to develop as an interesting character too.

Another thing I don't get is complaints about the day-glow daleks looking "ridiculous".

Daleks have always looked ridiculous! I mean, c'mon, they're industrial vacuum cleaners with, you know, toilet plungers coming out of their "heads". Daleks were goofy-looking in 1963 and they're goofy-looking now (and that's one of the reason I love 'em). That the show has ever managed to make them scary is a minor miracle of television making.

I was 7 or 8 when I saw it, and I remembered it being the most boring of the bunch (but I loved Return of the Jedi when it came out, and although my memories of Star Wars were fragmented (having watched it when I was 4), I had remembered liking SW).

It was only as re-watching occurred once I was into my teens that TESB became my favourite of the three.

Sadly, my love for Star Wars was pretty much destroyed by the sacharine ending to Return of the Jedi. But I can see how as an 11 or 12 year-old it would have seemed awesome.
