As per the subject-line, I'd be most interested in anyone with a background in economics having a look at this article. Mostly, I'm interested in knowing whether the author's explanation of how the (American) monetary system works is accurate, though if anyone wants to have a go at whether or not her solution to the current fiscal problems are is sensible, I'd be interested in that, too. P.S. Nellie, I heard and will obey as soon as I can!

The description of the monetary system is accurate and matches what I've read elsewhere. The solution may or may not work - it's late and it lost me a bit at the very end - but it also matches what I've read elsewhere from trusted (and various) sources.

I do have an economics degree, but it has almost no relevance to my knowledge on this topic. I just do a lot of reading on the subject.

Japan is really screwed, by the way - the author got that totally correct.

Belated thanks

Thanks for the above; having some verification that the author isn't talking out of her hat makes me want to give it another look. (Somehow I had no idea you had a degree in economics.)
