Kbuntu 8 Wireless Connectivity Issues

A friend of mine (yes, the same one I posted about before, the musician) has installed Kbuntu 8 on a brand-new laptop, but has not been able to configure his wireless connection. I myself am running Gusty 7.10 and know damn-all about wireless connectivity.

Can anyone help, with advice or useful links? He's done some research (I can't say what in particular) but has come up dry. I'll direct him to this thread if the answer is yes.
