I can't say I've witnessed any kind of "bizarre orgy of appropation" for Ford, but maybe we read in different circles. I did like what he had to say about a government large enough to give you everything you have, though -- that line's been echoing in my head since I first heard it.
Nevertheless, yeah, heaping praise on him would seem to be a kneejerk death-of-a-public-figure move at best.
