Twas a windy day in Hogtown
That Young Geoffrey slept away
Dreaming dreams of innocent delights
At least, that's all he'll say
Twas a windy day in Hogtown
That Younger Geoffrey slept away
No sound heard he of screen falling,
Nor of window fan on sill giving way
Twas a windy day in Hogtown
When Young Geoffrey did arise
Groping for the morning paper and
Rubbing sands from crusty eyes
Twas a windy day in Hogtown
When Young Greoffrey did arise
To wet his whistle, check his email
And ponder the ordering of pizza pies
Twas a windy day in Hogtown
When Young Geoffrey's clock struck noon
Chet's bowl was empty, Chet's bowl was bare!
Quick with guilt, he re-filled kitty's boon
Twas a windy day in Hogtown
When Young Geoffrey clock struck noon
No kitty's clatter, no kitty's mew replied
To greet the falling kibble, just the empty room
Twas a windy day in Hogtown
And Young Geoffrey searched his pad
No sign of Chet, no sign of cat at all
Near bed, nor desk, nor yet behind the rad
Twas a windy day in Hogtown
And Young Geoffrey searched his pad
A window gaping open -
Geoffrey knew that this was bad!
Twas a windy day in Hogtown
When Young Geoffrey launched his search
Behind the building calling, "Chet!"
It soon was clear kitty'd left him in the lurch
Twas a windy day in Hogtown
When Young Geoffrey gave up his search
The cat was gone, Chet had fled, enticed outdoors
Clawless, would Chet be hurt or worse?
Twas a quiet night in Hogtown
When Young Geoffrey did come to
A pee, a smoke, a snack he needed
When he heard a sound, a mew!
Twas a quiet night in Hogtown
When Young Geoffrey stepped outside
A light in hand, his sandled feet stepped careful
As he creaped around the building's side
Twas a quiet night in Hogtown
And Young Geoffrey shone his light
Chet's round face appeared and his body followed suit
In Geoffrey's arms, at last all was right!
Twas a windy day in Hogtown
That Young Geoffrey slept away
Dreaming dreams of innocent delights
At least, that's all he'll say
Twas a windy day in Hogtown
