I haven't seen (or heard of) Miller's series, but I'm on rabbit ears (when I can tear myself away from downloaded teevee) and the PBS stations that come over Lake Ontario don't come over at all well, so it might have - it sounds like something that would stroke my prejudices, in any case.
I'm curious why it bothered you that Starbuck and Boomer were going to be women - but then, I don't understand why anyone remembers the original show with anything but contempt (I haven't seen it since it first aired; if you say it was better than I remember, I'll take your word for it), so I don't understand wanting the old show at all.
But meanwhile, I sure agree with you about the new one - after Deadwood and The Wire it's the best television drama I've ever seen.
