"Survival of the least inadequate" - Who knew a slide-show could be fun?

Vampires! Big Pharma!

The horror! The horror!

Anyone who is interested in science fiction, dead-pan satire, the evils of "big pharma" or, well, actually plausible vampires really ought to check out this slide-show. (But be warned, it's 15 or 20 minutes long.)

Peter Watts' fiction is arguably a little bleaker than the tongue-in-cheek presentation might suggest, but all of his novels are available on his site, so sample away. But buy his actual books if you find yourself liking what you read.

Blampires

This slideshow is screamingly funny if at work you have been subjected to dry academic presentations on biological topics via slideshow.

I can taste the stale pastries and coffee in little paper cups, and see the vestigial plastic stir therein.

As I recall, it had me laughing out loud even though I haven't been directly subjected to academic presentations on biological topics. Like most good satire, Watts' is specific without being narrow — if you know what I mean.

Maybe I used too many monkeys

There is that nervous laughter produced by SkullCrusher Mountain types speaking frankly about their work. These vampires are easily controlled because of their crucifix glitch - what's with all the screaming?
