From my decidedly non-expert understanding, klezmer is Jewish folk music that originated in Eastern Europe 2 or 3 (or 4?) hundred years ago. It strikes me as having some similarity to Gypsy music and - perhaps strangely - to New Orleans jazz. Very upbeat and, in Pomegranate's case, with a heavy dose of tongue-in-cheek humour and earnest politics, a mix both unusual and very hard to pull off well, which Pomegranate managed to do.
As for strip-clubs, I re-read your post and you've almost convinced me it's my fault I find them so uninteresting. But there's also the fact that - for fantasy purposes - I find the site of a woman wearing something more exciting than one wearing nothing.
