also I felt obligated to respond to this post seeing that it's all about my current field of study/obsession.
I have also recently entertained the idea of becoming a comic-book writer/illustrator. But I have thought that it would be very difficult even for me, a person who spends a great deal of time drawing and more time thinking about drawing. Because my favorite cartoons are the beautiful kind and in my opinion, an illustrator has to be a master of expression, movement, scenery, figure-drawing and composition in order to be a premium comic book artist. And that is why I feel it would be a very, very difficult job. But I am willing to work on this: hands and movement are my most difficult points. Your story reminds me of so many stories that I have heard: kids have a dream and then they see the greats and instead of becoming inspired, they become overwhelmed. This tendency to give-up in the face of greatness does not go away from some of us after childhood unless we have a great determination. For instance, I have watched my step-dad go through so many hobbies and never become good at one: violin(oh god he was horrible at this), piano, plane pilot, hiker, photographer, juggler, guitar, Arabic, Chinese, French, Latin, rock-climbing, swimming, number theory, fish-keeping, bird-watching, skiing and currently scuba-diving.(to name a few) Some people just lose interest in things without making the big achievements they initially dreamed of.
But you my friend, have stayed with writing through and through! So I have great expectations for the revised version of your book. As the Chinese would say: Jia1 you2!
Yes yes
